Christmas stocking

Today is the first day of Advent and some of you have probably lit a candle, enjoyed a family Sunday or simply some cozy time alone.

The countdown to Christmas has officially begun and we wish you all a December full of love, joy and a lot of creativity.

Therefore we have decided to publish a free pattern or pattern hack every Sunday until Christmas!

The first two patterns are beginner friendly and easy to sew. It’s also a good project if you wish to sew together with your children!

The first pattern we offer you is a Christmas stocking pattern!

We have made two versions of the pattern and instruction: a smaller and a larger one!

As all of you know, each country has their own traditions pertaining to Christmas, and in some parts of the world, you hang the Christmas stocking on Saint Nicholas Day or on Christmas Eve, so that Saint Nicholaus or Santa Claus can fill it with toys, candies and fruits.

When I was a child, we used to clean a pair of boots on the evening before Saint Nicholas Day and hang our Christmas stockings in the hallway. This was always a very special, and sort of magical evening filled with joy and anticipation.

When we woke up the next morning, the boots were filled with chocolate, clementines and nuts and in the Christmas stocking were little presents. Though one year we got a rude letter from farmhand Rupert, a helper of Saint Nicholas, that we hadn’t behaved well…

What kind of Christmas traditions do you have in your country or specifically for your family?

We would love to read more about them in the comment section!
